YEEZY & Air Jordan Brand Releases 2018 ~ 2022
Over the last 5 years the landscape of sneaker releases have morphed based on supply and demand, hype, raffles, social distancing, new brands, old brands & community. Through the bitter cold, the searing heat and a global pandemic, a community of entrepreneurs and die hard sneaker enthusiasts, will do anything they can to either ‘cop’ or take a ‘W’. That means camping out on the street for 36-48 hours, sleeping on a $7 fold out chair while keeping 1 eye open so your bag doesn’t get stolen or losing your place in the line. Its commitment, and the result; Making $100 - $1,000 profit, or adding something special to your closet.
From the absolutely choatic days of Kanye Wests; YEEZY, to the sky rocketing Air Jordan brand, Balenciaga, Nike collaborations, New Balance, Salomon, Ambush, UNDFT & Fear of God. Sneakerboy provided that light which attracted so many.
I was fortunate enough to witness the crowds live on the footpath, share moments with seasoned campers, watch them squeeze through the tunnel in the wall and document the highlights and lowlights sneaker releases.
